Ubuntu 14.04 - End of Life
Ubuntu Linux 14.04 LTS no longer supported by vendor
Ubuntu Linux 14.04 LTS reaches the end of its five-year LTS window on April 30th 2019 and will no longer be supported by the vendor (Canonical). This means that this version of Ubuntu will no longer receive security patches or other software updates.
As a result SCS Computing Facilities (SCSCF) is phasing out software support for all computers running Ubuntu 14.04 LTS and will end support on September 30, 2019.
What do I need to do?
- Request and Upgrade
If you have an SCS-supported computer still running Ubuntu Linux 14.04, please take action to upgrade your computer to a supported Ubuntu Linux build/version before Septemeber 30, 2019. - Remove SCSCF Software Support
If your computer is being replaced with a newer computer running a supported operating system or simply is not needed, you can retire your Ubuntu Linux computer.
No support available after September 30th, 2019
If you choose not to upgrade your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS computer, it will not receive security patches or functionality updates and our ability to troubleshoot issues will be limited. SCSCF software support charges will be canceled automatically as of October 1, 2019.
