Druva Data Protection Service Ending 11/30/18

12/1/2018 Update:  Druva Data Protection was decommissioned 11/30/2018.  Please register for our CrashPlan Data Protection Service

On November 30, 2018, SCS Computing Facilities (SCSCF) will decommission the Druva Data Protection service and the collection of your backup data will stop.  Existing backup data from before November 30, 2018 will continue to be available until May 30, 2019.  At that point, the SCS Druva Protection service will be shut down completely.

SCSCF is now offering Data Protection via Code42's CrashPlan.  We are offering this new service at no cost to members of the SCS Community.

CrashPlan service highlights:

  • Free to the SCS community with a CMU-owned computer
  • Windows, Mac and Linux compatibility
  • Continuous incremental cloud backups
  • Advanced encryption for your data

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO:

Our recommendation for existing Druva users is that they move to our CrashPlan Data Protection service before November 30, 2018.  Druva and CrashPlan can safely be run side-by-side on the same machine while you're switching services.

You can either, (1) submit a ticket and let us know you would like us to help you install and configure CrashPlan or (2) enroll your CMU-owned computer(s) yourself by clicking the Search/Update/Remove equipment link at https://computing.cs.cmu.edu/help-support/equip-registration.html and we will send you installation instructions.
