Kerberos administrative service - transition to new master KDC

DATE: Tuesday, June 9, 2020

TIME: 7:00 AM - 10:00 AM

SERVICES AFFECTED: Instance Manager/Kerberos Password Changes

DETAILS: On Tuesday, June 9, 2020, SCS Computing Facilities will transition to a new Kerberos master server. Kerberos provides authentication for UNIX logins, WebISO, and many SCS services.


Normal Kerberos authentication services will be unaffected throughout the transition period (3 hours). However, Kerberos administrative services, including the Instance Manager, password-changing services, and UNIX system installation will be affected. These services should not be used during this period.

Please Note: These services involve making changes to the Kerberos database. While some of these services may appear to be available during the transition period, it is important that changes are not attempted during this period. Any changes may be lost as the database may be rolled back to its pre-transition state.
